Hello, @Nes44 - Greetings!
Thanks for reaching out! I'd like to help π
I understand that you are facing issues while printing envelope on your Officejet 8710 printer. To assist you with this issue, I would like to know the envelope size that you are trying to print. Make sure you are using the supported envelope size mentioned here: http://hp.care/2oVRoON Check under "Paper-Handling specification".
Now, follow the instructions here to print the envelope using the hallmark studio.
If you face any issues, try printing the same envelope using the MS Word application and check whether that works. Make sure to follow the instructions as mentioned here to print the envelopes: http://hp.care/2gmGFqw
Check the βFrequently asked questionsβ, follow the steps under βHow do I print envelopes with Microsoft Word?β
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck π

Hello Nes,
HP EXPERT Dvortex provided what you need. Note in the link for Hallmark the additional link for printing custom size.
I can provide additional tips for your situation. You will see below that the 5540 supports custom paper size. Dvortex's link on loading envelopes states:
Inkjet printers with a front load tray: Front of envelope facing down and the flap to the left.
Then pull the plastic guides in from the side firmly into the envelope stock.
Could you please answer one question: , do you get a printer shortcut like the one I added below, when printing in the Hallmark program? Also, have you used it with other printers, successfully, and if so, what seems to be different with the 5540? I am not familiar with your Hallmark program. I am not an HP employee.
Here are some of the relevant specs (from HP.com).
The "Custom" indicates you should be able to do it.
Envelope input capacity - 5 envelopes
Media sizes supported A4; A5; B5; DL; C6; A6
Media sizes, custom 3.85 x 8.5 to 5 x 14 in
Media weights by paper path - Tray 1: A4: 75 to 90 g/mΓΒ²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/mΓΒ²; HP Photo Paper: up to 250 g/mΓΒ²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 250 g/mΓΒ²

You need to set a custom size in your C4480Printer:
(took me forever to figure it out) STEPS:
Control Panel (in computer), Hardware & Sound, Devices & Printers, select Hp Photosmart C4480, Customize your Printer, General tab, Change Properties, Preferences, Features, Resizing Options-Custom, You need to name your custom, then click save, enter your parameters for size 5.75 & 8.75 Inches for Half envelope, Ok. This will not show up until you exit the set up. Go back to Hallmark choose select print, Select Half Fold Envelope for size. Other, click on Hp PhotoSmart 4400 series, Properities, Features, Resizing Options- Pull down tab, More, Custom (at bottom) OK. Should work.

I was almost ready to send the HP 8720 back to Amazon but kept trying to find a solution because I like the auto feed option for copying and scanning. Everything worked fine except printing the envelopes when using Hallmark Card software. It seems HP and Hallmark could come to terms with this and correct the problem. Until they do this is what I have found to be able to print half-fold envelopes (A9). I would hope a driver would solve this issue but maybe not.
When printing the envelope select"
Single-Fold 162mm x 229mm C5
You may have to adjust the placement of the text boxes for "sent from" and "sent to" but it will work and I can still use the clip art and message (Get Well Soon or Thinking of You) on the envelope.
Note: This setting doesn't default so you will need to select this size for each envelope you print. I wish there were some way to set it as the default when printing half-fold envelopes. Maybe HP and Hallmark could make that happen if they can't come up with a better solution.

I have a new LaserJet Pro MFP M281 and had the same issue with Hallmark Card Studio. I created an A9 (half fold) envelope setting. Printers, printer preferences, paper/quality tab, custom, then edit, width 5.75 height 8.75 (the envelope feeds lengthwise), named it A9, and saved it. When you click on print, FIRST choose the box with your printer name and then choose properties and under paper settings, pick A9. Click OK and then go back to the Hallmark area on the left. Under "Select envelope size" pick A9 from the dropdown box. Then tear a sheet of plain paper in half so it's about the size of an A9 envelope. (I hate wasting envelopes.) Draw a stamp on the corner before you feed it to the printer, to make sure you're feeding it the right direction. If you've used your custom A9 settings in both places, it should work.
