I uninstalled printer and software  and went to HP.com to install new software.  Still won't print documents.  Up comes One Note, which I have never seen before.  It asks where I want to print document there.  How do I get rid of One Note and get my printer to print a document to paper?

@kathy817, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'. This will also check the default printer.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Perform a clean reinstallation of pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

Additional info regarding my question:  When I go to maintain printer, toolbox, then to device services and ask to print quality diagnostic page my computer communicates fine and printer prints that diagnostic page.  Everything looks normal on that page.  But when I want to print a document, I get that same message telling me computer can't communicate with printer.  I tried on a different document with same lack of results.

Kumar0307 solved my main problem, but I almost missed something he didn't mention as being a possible minor problem.  On the print page there is a box that tells where it is printing to.  It was not printing because my printer was not listed.  There was help on that page that I followed to get my printer listed.  I didn't notice until I told a friend about my problem and he asked me if my printer was listed in that box.  Now I know to check that box in the future if I have printing problems.  Thank you to all people who make this web site possible.  I learned a lot through solving this problem with your help.
