I am trying to print a form ,printer is on the wireless network, everything seems ok,plenty of ink. But all the printer will print is a small part of the page. THere is an error message comes up on my Mac saying the printer may be configured wrongly for the task and I should print out the Information page on the printer which will give the url for changing its configuration online. But when I press the I button on the printer all I get is a blank page! In fact whatever I try to print gives either a blank page or bits of pages ,mostly the bottom bit. I don't think it can be the configuration that's the problem, it's the same as I've always used. Never had a problem printing out forms before. Any help out there?
Also, strangely,I can't print at all from my iphone, It keeps saying "searching for printer",I know they are on the same wireless network, and the printer is ticked when I try to print .But no contact!

Hello, @vivvy1
Since the photocopy also printed blank, it could be an issue with the print cartridges on your printer. Is the printer simply not printing a specific color like black? Try different photo copies (black & white and color) and check the difference.
if indeed, the issue is with the printer cartridges not printing, then try to follow the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2nxykXM
Perform all the steps to completely resolve the issue, but make sure to thoroughly clean the cartridge as suggested in step 5.
If the issue persists, then try to print using the single cartridge mode. Remove one of the cartridges from the printer and close the cartridge access door. This should help you print in single-cartridge mode. First, try with black & then try color cartridge. This will also help us in further isolating the issue.
If the issue persists, try replacing the cartridge and check.
Let me know how that goes!
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @vivvy1 – Greetings!
Thanks for reaching out! I’d like to be of your assistance with the printer issue 🙂
I understand that you are having issues printing to your Deskjet printer. To assist you with this issue, I need to know whether the printer can make a "Photocopy" or not.
Place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
If the copy comes out fine, then try the steps below:
- Click the Apple menu icon, and then click “System Preferences”.
- Click “Printers and Scanner” / “Print and Scan” or “Print and Fax”.
- Right-click the blank space in the Printers list, and then click “Reset printing system”.
- Click “Reset” in the confirmation window.
- Enter an administrator username and password, and then click “OK”.
- Wait until the printing system is reset and no devices show in the Printers list
- Restart your computer and then go back to System preferences – Printers and scanners.
- Click the “Add button” (+).
- Find, and then select the name of your printer from the printer list, and then click “Add” to add your printer.
- Click “Print Using...”, and then select the name of your printer (By default “AirPrint” would be selected)
Also, try to install the HP Smart app on your iPhone. Go to apple store and install the HP Smart app and then try printing. If already installed, then reinstall the same and check.
Let me know if that helps!
Good luck 🙂

I tried to photocopy but a blank page was all I got! Also tried printing out a pdf form and got just the boxes where you fill in info but no words. Shall I try resetting the printer in preferences like you said?

Ok,so I reset the printer ,still not working, I opened HP Utility from the printer preferences in system presences and it all looked fine .So I tried printing out a configuration page and again only got a very small part of the page, a few bits in the middle this time. What can I do ?Help!☹️

I followered all the steps you suggested and it does seem to be the black cartridge that"s the problem. I cleaned and aligned the print cartridges and tried printing with one at a time, the black one didn't work at all and the colour one on it's own worked perfectly. So i will get replacement cartridges and hope that solves the problem. Thanks very much for all your help!
