when i am shutting down or turning off the printer for the day or night i get this message: printer error occurred F0.01.01.02 A critical system error has occurred. restart the printer and try again. if the problem persists, contact your support representative. then has this at the bottom of the printer screen FW Version:6.20.1.5-202403010422 I have tried unplugging the printer. and extensive search here online. found this
OfficeJet Pro 9130e. Let's go through some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the errors:
Event Code Descriptions
The specific event codes you mentioned relate to various types of errors:
- F0.01.01.02 Critical Error: This typically indicates a severe malfunction that requires immediate attention.
- F0.04.02.03 Warning Error: This is usually less severe but still indicates an issue that needs addressing.
- F0.03.09.05 Error: This could be related to network or communication problems.
Troubleshooting Steps
Restart the Printer: As you mentioned, restarting helps temporarily. Ensure the printer is completely powered off before turning it back on.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update Firmware and Drivers:
Check Network Connection:
Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
Reinstall Printer on Devices:
- Use HP Smart App: The HP Smart app can help diagnose and fix issues. Make sure you have it installed and use it to troubleshoot.
I DON'T KNOW IF I AM SUPPOSED TO TRY OR DO ALL THE ABOVE OR WHAT. AND EVEN SO I DON'T KNOW WHERE OR HOW TO FIND EXACTLY THE 'USE HP SMART APP' TO HELP DIAGNOSE AND FIX ISSUES
THE issue only happens so far when i am shutting down. of lately i just push the power off button leave the printer as is with the message open and walk away. in the morning the message is gone and i'm guessing the printer turned off or shut down completely.... any thoughts suggestion input please!

don't know why you sent me this message. i did speak with someone don't remember who. did a remote session and that did not help! all that i can say that was done was changing a setting not sure exactly what now. but i think what was done was removing a printer or printer from default status or ??? since apparently it was set up for usb ?? and wired ?? or wi fi'd or something like that. anyway, that now screwed up some features on the printer and now it takes longer to print meaning i now have more steps to do in making sure the settings are correct for the printing needed. such as the printer would automatically detect for double sided printing and now it doesn't and the screen that comes up for printing is a different screen that does not allow me to change anything more of a basic printer dialog box and leaving the printer in the on position (not pushing the power button to turn off at all) just keeps the printer on all night long!
i did turn it off tonight and still got the 'critical error' but the printer did shut down after about 5 minutes. am expecting someone to call me on a follow up tomorrow. hope I'm awake enough at that time to deal with this since currently it's about 3:00 am

Sorry for the long message here: But not sure if it is resolved or not. i received that error message only when i shut or turned off the printer at the end of the day. HP is claiming this issue is a RARE case! and needs advanced troubleshooting. connected me to someone else, they said they would replace the printer but with a REFUBISHED one. what i have is brand new and they want to replace it with a refurbished printer! when i questioned that they said it would be a display model! NOooo. I just bought this one. brand new and you are going to give me a 'used' one... after they did remote checking system they removed or changed the default printer because i had two in my system with obviously you can only have ONE default printer and then they wanted to remove another printer that was attached to another computer in another room, that i had both set as shared printers to two of my computers.
after they reset the default and i went to print something from my phone i got this message: connection method the printer has received a request to connect using wi-fi direct. okay really. no clue. at the end of the day after all that i did not turn off the printer because they said NOT to. that it would auto shut down. well in the morning it did not shut down and did not work at all. HP was supposed to call me back. well guess they did but phone caller id showed 'spam risk' so i didn't answer the phone. they left a message. then they sent me an email. I responded to the email the following day. it's been 4 days now and no response via email or phone call. I don't turn off or shut down the printer it seems to sort of work, just more hoops to follow before i actually get a print and it takes longer to get it to print. Since my issue was only associated to when i turned off / shut down the printer and i have not done that in a few days have not had that error code. There is nothing in the paperwork that states NOT TO TURN OFF OR SHUT DOWN PRINTER EITHER. so was this resolved? could say yes because it only happened when the printer is turned off/shut down and since i don't do that i don't get the error code.
was it resolved overall? NO. Tech support was a bit hard to understand, and they never responded to my response on email... nor have they called me back. since i can't afford to replace this printer, will have to suffer through the slowness of this printer until i can afford to replace it. and have another issue with the other printer, different company that started happening AFTER I setup installed this HP unit. it's with my Epson printer. with that one i get a host something scanner at the very top of every piece i print out when i turn on that printer, turn it off and at random times when printing. Good luck hope you get a better resolution and that your issue is resolved. if you do get a good resolution please let me know .

Spent all day on whatsapp HP support, who were very patient. We were able to update the firmware, update the HP smart app so it is actually showing the correct printer status, done all of the charge down bits several times. The printer works but when I shut down the error message appears and the disappears after about a minute, the printer shuts down properly. So in spite of all the support the issue is still there.
