My brand new HP Envy Photo 7155 is unable to connect to Web Services.  Internet connection is fine and the wifi printing works.    I was on the phone with HP tech support for hours before they eventually told me this was a known bug with no current fix.  It's been 2 months.

Help. What is error D80774EC and how do I get Web Services to recognize my new printer?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

MKazi is at your service.

I understand that your HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer cannot connect to Web Services. I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting this issue and have certainly done a good job.

During my research on this case, I came across quite a few steps that can help us to resolve this issue. However, I do not want you to repeat any steps that are already performed by you earlier.

Please review the following steps as they should help:

If you received an error message when turning on Web Services, try the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Restart the printer: Restarting the printer can clear possible error conditions.

  • Restart the router: Restarting your router can clear any connection issues. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.

  • Confirm your printer is connected: Make sure the printer is connected to a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network with an active Internet connection.

note: If you connect your printer with a USB cable, Web Services cannot turn on.

    • If your printer is connected with a wired (Ethernet) connection, check the cable and the lights on the printer’s Ethernet port. The green link light should be steady, and the orange activity light should blink when the cable is connected.

    • If your printer is connected with a wireless connection, make sure the wireless feature is on and the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Some printers have a wireless icon and a blue light on the front of the printer. If the printer has a blue light, and the light is on and not blinking, your printer is connected to a wireless network.

  • Check the router band setting (wireless connections only): Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

  • Check for additional devices that emit radio and wireless signals (wireless connections only): Move any devices that emit radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. They can interfere with wireless signals.

  • Move the printer and router closer together (wireless connections only): Move the printer closer to your wireless router, but no closer than 1.8 m (6 ft). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.

For detailed troubleshooting steps, go to Cannot Connect to Web ServicesIn this HP document, there are 7 steps and need to be performed in the given order.

However, if the printer continues to not connect to the Web Services then you may reset the printer. A reset will restore the printer to its original factory condition. A private message has been sent with the semi full reset steps.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted for further assistance.

All the best! 🙂
