The cable connection socket for the cable coming from the router ics different from that was on my HP 7610.  Is there a name for the new style connection to enable me to buy the cable needed?  Any help is much appreciated.

The Officejet 3830 does not have a wired ethernet connection.  It can connect wirelessly to your router or can use a USB connection with a standard A/B USB cable.  The thinner port that looks like a LAN port is a telephone connection for the Fax line.

If you plan to use the printer with the Instant Ink program you will need to connect it to the router wirelessly.
