The cable connection socket for the cable coming from the router ics different from that was on my HP 7610. Is there a name for the new style connection to enable me to buy the cable needed? Any help is much appreciated.

The Officejet 3830 does not have a wired ethernet connection. It can connect wirelessly to your router or can use a USB connection with a standard A/B USB cable. The thinner port that looks like a LAN port is a telephone connection for the Fax line.
If you plan to use the printer with the Instant Ink program you will need to connect it to the router wirelessly.

Hi,
Are you sure you are loking at the right port ? It uses standard RJ-45 port should fit all standard LAN cable.
