Hi @Ron3521,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are getting the E6 error on your HP ENVY 6020e All-in-One Printer typically indicates a hardware or mechanical issue. Here's a list of steps you can try to resolve the error:
1. Check for Paper Jams
- Open all accessible compartments and gently remove any jammed paper, if present. Even small bits of paper can cause this error.
2. Check for Obstructions
- Ensure that there are no foreign objects, like pieces of tape or other materials, inside the paper path or ink cartridge area.
3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and power it on.
4. Reinstall Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove both the cartridges and reinsert them securely.
5. Check the Cartridge Chip
- Ensure the ink cartridges are genuine HP products and not damaged.
- Clean the contact points on the ink cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any dust or ink residue.
6. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date.
- Open the HP Smart app or go to the HP support website and check if there's a firmware update available for your printer model.
7. Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Uninstall the printer software on your computer and reinstall it.
- You can download the latest drivers and software from the HP Support website.
