Hi @RLel,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are getting horizontal lines when printing photos.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Hi

The printer works fine on 10x15 cm HP photopaper. The black lines are visible on A4 Hp photopaper. Printing text is also without any problem. I use only HP cartridges and replaced them all but no solution even aligning and cleaning printheads does not help. I had also done the troubleshooting steps before posting.

Recently there was a windows 10 64bit upgrade and I think also from HP support assistant for printers.

Kind regards

Richard

It looks like you were interacting with @The_Fossette, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I recommend:

If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

@Riddle_Decipher

i do not like to install the basic windows driver. Every thing works normal except photo's on A4 format. What is the main cause of this problem? is there an other solution?

Hi @RLel,

As I understand you are able to print only having issues printing from A4 photo paper, Please correct me if I'm wrong.

If it's only with photo paper, I would suggest you could try to use a different photo type and check if that helps

Alternatively, you can also try to print a normal A4 paper and check if you are able to print or not.

If you are able to print, this could be an  issue with the printer print settings on your PC causing the issue. While feeding the photo paper to the photo, you need to keep “Glossy” or print side facing down. Also, it is important to change the print settings before you print a photo. Check the settings mentioned below:

  1. Go to control panel - Devices and printers
  2. Right-click on your Photosmart and choose the "Printing preferences" option.
  3. Now, go to paper quality / layout tab and make sure the paper type is selected as "Photo paper".
  4. Also, select the correct paper size and save the settings.

Now, follow the steps mentioned to print the photo:

  • Open the picture using “Windows Photo Viewer” (You can right-click on the image and go to “Open with” to select the windows photo viewer app)
  • Change the paper size appropriately.
  • Also, change the paper type to “photo paper” before printing.

You can check detailed instructions here:  HP Printers - How to Print Photos (Windows)

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to do a clean install of the printer drivers:

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart your computer.

Now click on this link:  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL43742/mp-108722-3/PS6520_1315-1.exe to download and install the printer software.

Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!
