My left hinge also broke today. Amazing how it seems to always be the left one in most of these posts. Mine was simple to fix. Took the hinge cover off (1screw). Lifted the door on that side enough to pop out the bottom piece of the hinge with my fingers. It came right out easily. Left the springs where they were (just because they weren't creating any problem) and everything works fine.

Hello Jay_52,

You may refer to the thread of  esmira 20.. where the link is provided to buy the ADF hinges ..

Alternatively you may call the HP Tech support at 1-800-474-6836 ...

They would provide the best solutions possible..

Hinge fix works great! We have 2 of these printers and the plastic hinges broke when replacing the ink cartridges in both about 3 months apart.  Mine on the right hinge and the other on the left hinge.  We've done lots of scan, print, and copy jobs with both and we are not having any issues with our hinge fix, purchased from the home depot.  Great multifunction machines but Crappy plastic hinges! The metal ones should outlast the printer.

Great solution, thanks!

I also removed the 5 screws for both top hinges with a T10 hex screwdriver and it worked fine! Not necessary to remove
the bottom ones. Solved!

@lattinlady, the fix is to replace the hinge or call HP @8004746836.

You will see a link esmira20 posted where you can purchase the hinges.
