I have a hp envy 4500 printer and it was working before and has now stopped working with this computer.  The computer is also a HP.  It was not working and when I looked into the devices on my computer it said it was out of ink. I changed the ink cartridge with a new one and it gives the same message but it will print it's own test page.  All my other devices print off this printer, wirelessly, without any problem and no error messages.  i have tried uninstalling printer, software, and rebooting the router, computer, and printer with the same result.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled. Same thing.  Also, scan doctor won't fix it and keeps saying out of ink which it is not.  This is frustrating and doesn't make sense to me.  IP addresses match in my computer.  Will not print a test page from my computer.  The problem has got to be in this computer but I have no clue as to what to do.

Any ideas? Help!

Hi@acoopfan

Thank you for the update.

I see that printer is working fine with the single cartridge mode, that is with the black ink cartridge and same way insert the only the color ink cartridge and check if the printer is working fine.

Since the printer is working fine with the other devices,

Let's try to fix the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver software by the following method.

Step 1:

Uninstalling the Printer from the computer.

1> In Windows search for and open Programs and features

2>Select your HP Printer

3>Select Uninstall

4>In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers.

5>In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP Printer.

If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete or 'Remove Device'

6>Open up the run command with the "Windows key +R" key combo.

7>Type printui.exe /s and click ok

8>Click on the "drivers" tab.

9>Look for Hp Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10>Select Ok

11>Select Apply and Okon the Printer Server Properties windows

12>Close Devices and printers.

Step2: Please refer the link to download the full feature software: Click here

Please let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope that the issue gets resolved without hassles.

Here, I request you to insert old ink cartridges or spare ink cartridges just to isolate the issue or you could also try to insert the single cartridge at a time and check which cartridge is causing the error.

Meanwhile, May I know, which OS installed on the computer?

Thank you for the response. I have windows 10 installed. Unfortunately, I threw the ink cartridge that was old away. So I cannot try your idea . I also am using just 1 black ink cartridge. No color cartridge at all. The printer says in single cartridge mode. Any ideas from this?

This did get me printing! Thank you. Of course, now it sends me a message that I don't have a color ink cartridge!
