@gladelyn, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Officejet 4635 e-All-in-One Printer is showing a blinking power button and then turning off. This usually indicates a power supply issue, firmware glitch, or hardware fault. Let’s go through some steps to isolate and resolve the issue:

Power Reset the Printer

This clears any residual electrical charge and resets internal hardware.

  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer while it is still on.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer and try turning it on.

Check Power Source and Adapter

  • Ensure the wall outlet is working by testing it with another device.
  • If you're using a power strip or surge protector, bypass it and plug directly into the wall.
  • Inspect the power cord and adapter for any visible damage.

Firmware Recovery (if printer turns on briefly)

If the printer powers on momentarily, try updating the firmware:

  1. Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  2. Enter HP Officejet 4635 and select your OS (Windows 11).
  3. Download and install the latest firmware if available.

Try a Semi-Full Reset (Advanced)

If the issue persists and the printer turns on briefly, a semi-full reset may help. This will reset the printer to factory defaults.

Note: This will erase custom settings like Wi-Fi credentials and fax logs.

To perform this:

  1. With the printer on, press the Home button.
  2. Tap the Back button four times quickly to open the support menu.
  3. Navigate to Reset Menu > Semi-Full Reset.

If none of the above steps help and the printer still shuts off after blinking, it may be a hardware failure, in that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
