I am just wondering how many others have gotten roped into this Instant Ink SCAM. I received this printer for my business as a gift and before it would even allow me to print I had to sign up for Instant Ink. next thing you know it won't print, and I get this error. It said to update my billing info. I called (after a long process of finding an actual number to call) and found out they basically turned my printer off. I cancelled Instant Ink, and went and bought ink from the store. I tried to print and it still wouldn't let me. It now said that Instant Ink was cancelled. Apparently they not only take full control of your printer, they also remove access within your computer. I spent over 2 and a half hours yesterday with one of their techs trying to get my printer to print. this was an epic fail. not only is this costing me money because of my time involved' but if I can't print anything for my customers I lose business. I am hoping there is enough interest in this issue for a class action lawsuit. Why should it be up to a big company to control how you print or how much you print, and to force this on you?

@SCAM1, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to print. To assist you better, do you get any errors?
1. Instant Ink enrollment is optional. It is your choice to enroll or not.
2. If the printer is enrolled, you can use Instant Ink and regular ink cartridges. The printer must be connected to the internet. There will be a monthly billing according to the number of pages you print.
3. To know how Instant Ink works, refer to this web page.
4. HP Instant Ink only monitors the printer ink levels and the number of pages printed. It cannot monitor your computer.
5. If you have canceled the enrollment, make sure you are using all regular HP ink cartridges in the printer. Instant Ink cartridges will not work.
Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.

One, when I set up printer with the ink cartridges it came with it would NOT print until I signed up to instant ink. so that is a LIE!!
Two, when I cancelled and bought new HP ink from the store the printer would not print. It said my instant ink account was cancelled.
Three when I looked into why the settings were changed so it wouldn't print I found that it was rerouted to save and no longer sent print jobs to my printer.
Four, I spent 2 1/2 hours with you're tech remotely reloading my drivers and trying to set up my printer. Still does NOT work.
Five, tell me why and how the drivers disappeared if instant ink didn't do it.

I do not want to further cloud the whole situation but I am wondering if your printer happens to be a 6455e?

I understand your concern. However, there has been a misunderstanding on how Instant Ink works. Kindly check the attached document in my post.
Instant Ink cannot delete the drivers.
The ink cartridges that are included with the printer are Instant Ink ready cartridges. You will still have a choice to enroll or not.
Feel free to contact the Instant Ink department in your region for assistance. The contact information can be found on the home page of Instant Ink. Click here or go to HP Instant Ink support
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
