I print photos and invoices for work. I still run an HP deskjet 6122 and find I'm using it for the photo printing still as the 5520 isn't producing quite as nice prints as the old printer. The scanner on the 5520 has come in handy for scanning customer photos for print but I have to send the file to the 6122. I thought, with the reviews and brand name I couldn't go wrong but I have been surprised and disappointed. My friend has this printer too and says hers does the grinding too but she likes the prints enough to deal with it. I can't say the prints are clean enough to deal.

When you print photos, are you printing with photo paper, or simply using plain paper - like a news article or something? Between photos and documents, which do you print most of?
Thanks,

I think this machine, which happens to be on sale at the moment, is the printer I would suggest. You can do everything you mention above, and then some. It is made for what you are using it for.

I am very disappointed that you aren't helping to actually remedy the issue but are pushing a printer that is more expensive. I don't need a printer to do more. I need the printer I got to do what it's supposed to. You haven't really helped here at all. Are you suggesting the HP Photosmart 5520 is garbage and I should give up on it and go with a different model entirely? What model is closer to the price of the 5520? That is my budget when I exchange the garbage printer for a new one.

Hi polymer,
Earlier in this thread, I provided links to a troubleshooting document as well as the phone number to speak to a live rep, since your printer is still in warranty. What was the result of performing the troubleshooting steps and talking to a live rep?
Regarding the "pushing a printer" issue, you asked for a suggestion, and I provided one. I certainly wasn't trying to push anything on you by replying to your request. I wanted to provide a solution that met your needs, instead of using two printers.
