error message" supply problem". unit has non HP cartridges. unit has functioned well for months …. then error message popped up. also, question marks are indicated in the ink indicators. I swapped cartridges.. error message remains. the swap was non HP.

I will order HP 204A cartridges from HP. If I install them & error message remains can I return the $200+ cartridges for refund.

Also I cannot locate a fix for this error message. I've tried to unplug & turn on etc. no good.

Please give any thoughts.

@LEJM, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Kindly perform these steps and check if that helps -

  1. Disconnect the printer from the network.

    • If on wired network: Unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the printer.

    • If on wireless network: Power off the router.

  2. Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and turn on the printer.

If the printer is in ready state, disable the IPv6 feature from the control panel as follows:

    1. Go to Setup, then Network Setup, and then Network Services.

    2. Tap IPv6, and then Off.
  3. Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds.

  4. Turn on with the network connection enabled.

  5. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Kumar, Thanks, I resorted to calling HP support. a Tech took control of my computer & resolved the problem. Problem was that a recently downloaded update disallowed non HP cartridges. He removed the new update & restored prior operations. works fine now.

non HP cartridges have worked fine at less than 1/2 the cost.
