There are (3) firmware versions available for the M577.  Please confirm that the firmware that was downloaded matches version currently installed on printer.  You may have to perform a partial hard drive clean.

I have found some USB keys are not supported or recognized. I tend to stick with brand name such as SanDisk or Kingston. Also make sure the key is formatter in Fat32. Another issue I have run into is trying to use a key with a capacity larger than 32Gb. You can also plug the key into the USB slot on the formatter on the chance that the port under the keyboard is bad.
