I allowed Windows to detect the printer, it installed and it worked normally for a day or two until a driver update broke it again, print jobs stuck in the queue.
Was the driver update from HP or MS?
The reason I ask is that we had a HP 69xx printer in place prior to replacing it with the 8210. The reason for replacing the 69xx was that after functioning fine for years, it began having print jobs stuck in the queue on the same computer!
I wonder if there was a MS update to Windows that could be to blame?

Hi all,
Well after the format I had exactly the same problem. So I removed the usb cable and attatched the printer in via ethernet, Installed the basic driver and its working fine.
The problem is with the usb element of the drivers and needs a fix if you want to connect using USB.

So I uninstalled everything associated with HP via the control panel. I checked the Device Manager to make sure the printer was gone. I went into system settings and made sure the printer was gone. I turned off the computer, removed the USB connector from the back of the printer, and restarted the computer. I then plugged the USB cable into the printer and let Windows find it. After it was installed, I used the instructions from the How To Geek article to block updates. Restarted the computer again. The printer shows up in the list. Iselected it and tried to print a test page. It failed. I created a Word document, tried to print it and it failed also. So, I have some other tasks to get to today. I'll check back in tomorrow and see how others made out with this.

Hi John,
When you say it failed to print, Has it failed because you get some error relating to incorrect config / setup / missing drivers? Or does it fail to print because of the 'jobs getting stuck on the queue' problem?
We did the same as you on the 3 pc/8210 setups we had and found that when Windows detected the printer it identified various devices some of which it failed to find a driver for. Once the driver detection phase had finished we were left with a working printer and if you subsequently printed a test page it came out ok. Only on checking the driver listed on the test page could we see that it had NOT picked up the 'dodgy' 8210 driver but some other driver for a different HP printer.
This is obviously not ideal but at least we were able to use the printer whilst we dug deeper.
I will have a look when I get 2 minutes and see if I can see which driver Windows 'picked up'. Perhaps as a temporary fudge (if you dont have access to connect via ethernet) you can force the same driver as ours have picked up to get them printing.

eurazmus,
Sorry.... In my haste to be brief, I was a bit too brief! What I actually meant to say was that after trying to print, the print jobs got stuck in the queue as in the past.
Let me provide you with an image of the print drivers found on the Windows Printer Test page for comparison to yours....

Well, the owner of the company came in and when I told him the troubles we were having with this printer, he told me to return it and get another brand to replace it. Best of luck to you guys in finding a solution to this problem.

I have exactly the same persistent queue problem with the 8210. Windows 10 machine connected via USB. After every print I have to run HP Print and Scan Doctor to clear the print spool. I have used the same USB cable to connect a HP 5610 which prints with no spooling problem. I also moved the USB cable from the 8210 to my laptop running Windows 7. The 8210 prints fine without the print spool issue from Windows 7. It is definitely a Windows 10/ HP 8210 driver issue.
The printer (which is incidently a very nice printer) is functionally unusable at the moment until HP bring out a fix.

I also had problems with stuck in queue after printing with a HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. I found this solution and it has worked so far - http://www.acarte.com/2017/03/23/second-print-job-fails-on-hp-printer/
Basically I went to Printer Properties -> Advanced tab -> Print Processor
Changed from "winprint" to "hpcpp6de". The article said to change to "hpzpplhn" but I did not have that choice. See what you have and try different "hp******" choices listed there to see if it will work for you.
Hopefully this will work for your 8210.
