When I started this topic, I mentioned in the problem statement that I had tried to get the AiO software to see the printer using all three available methods, Network, USB and Wireless.

Result: Nil, nothing, nada.

HHPSdr and HPPIW see the printer on the network and USB but not the AiO software.

I agree with TemporalRift , the error lies within the AiO software, not with McAfee and not with Windows.

On this one post you have 3 people all reporting the same problem. All have uninstalled and reinstalled the software mulitple times trying differnt Firewall and Live Scan setting. Despite this we have not been able to resolve the problem.

As I have already done the use the USB connection test, please can we move forward to solving the real problem.

Many thanks.

Hi ViktorSeven,

Sometimes a user profile in Windows could be corrupted. By creating a new user account, we can determine if this is the case or not. Here, is a guide from Microsoft explaining it. (Even though this guide is for Windows 7, it still applies to Windows 10.)

Hope this explains it better for you! :generic:

Super, thank you.

I am wondering whether the Solution Suite is missing the info it needs to locate or recognise the older devices.

I'll await the direct message.

Thanks for the explanation about corrupted user profiles. As I have not had that message, and the profile is only a few days old, it probably isn't corrpt.

As we have atleast two other users with what seems to be the same problem, which is the AiO software not seeing the printer, the explanation probably lies elsewhere.

Don't waste your time checking out corrupt profiles or anything else. The latest HP software (14.8.0) for older photosmart all in one printers such as HP 3310 isn't compatible with windows 10 or even Windows 8.1.

It's a disgrace that they've released this software claiming compatibility. I've just contacted HP support for the second time after previously trying out things like uninstalling and re-installing; Disabling Services and start up programs; disabling internet security/firewall; trying usb in addition to wireless; testing on clean installed machines and testing on Windows 8.1; Using Print and Scan Doctor and using their Wizard Installer. These utilities indicate that I have to install the correct or latest software which turns out to be also version 14.8.0. I even had a HP support person  romotely connect to my machine - and he couldn't work out why the software wasn't finding my printer.

Using this software windows is able to set up a usb printer with print and scan capability but is not recognized by the installation so installation never completes. So you lose access to programs such as HP Solution Centre and some scanning functionality.

It is also possible to setup a networked 3310 by manually adding the printer in Devices and Printers. You will have use Windows Update to get the relevant HP or Microsoft Drivers. This only has print functionality.

The HP Customer Service person I spoke to reminded me that my HP 3310 is ten years old and that I shouldn't expect it to work on advanced operating systems such as Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. That did make me laugh.

The printer is capable of working in Windows 10, it just needs HP to sort out the software. Unfortunately, I don't think HP will bother.  What makes me angry is that they have wasted my time by making software available for the printer that is supposedly compatible with Windows 10 and then making me jump through hoops trying to make it work. If they don't want to support older printers in Windows 8 or Windows 10 then they should have been honest and not wasted my time.

Exactly my thoughts I have used hp software for 30+ years, as usual HP do not seem to be able to admit even to themselves When there is a problem. How the installer  can not see the printer requires a programer to sort .

The solution centre on my wifes laptop worked on upgrade from win7 to 10 ? Still worked after downgrade back to win7.

Mine with two copys of windows on different partions one a clean install from win 7 the other an upgrade from win8.1 Solution centre will not work  on either( the printer does after windows found and installed.

PLEASE HP get someone who knows how the printer detection works to sort this!

Greetings all,

I find I have exactly the same problem as the folk above.

The install software does not recognise the printer. The printer is working fully on other computers on the same network. The only thing that fails is the Windows 10 installation process.

Windows 10 machine can sign on to the web interface.

Windows 10 Print and Scan wizard finds the printer and identifies it. Then it tries to install software for a pst3300.

Please fix this.

Thanks.

A question for HP "specialist"...

Windows 10 64 bit and Photosmart 3310 AIO.

I have installed latest driver/suite   AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe  and it doesn't recognize printer, same other users, but I had saved an old driver called  AIO_CDB_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe  and it works perfectly !!!!

WHY ?!?!?

So, dear HP developers..... FIX   AIO_CDA_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5.exe    or release a good version  " -6 "...

PLEASE !!!!!!   😞

thanks
