Hi, my HP Laserjet P1102w used to work well, but it recently kept having error saying "printer in use - printer job was not accepted". I'm using macbook pro and the OS is mavericks.
I don't know why I keep getting this error, since there are no jobs in the queue, and my printer seem properly installed when I go into system preferences. I've also tried resetting, but the problem continues.
I'm using wireless printing, since I can't use USB in this OS.
Any help would be appreciated - my printer had many problems when I tried to print wireless (mostly due to loss in connection), and I really don't want to get problems printing again!

So I tried this fix and it doesn't work. Of interest, if you go to the printer webpage and print a test sheet - it works. If I send a document as an eprint - it works. But if I try to print from the printer, it endlessly goes through a cycle saying first "printing" then "printer in use" and finally "print job was not accepted". I have downloaded all the latest drivers and programs for the 8600 but no luck. I assume this is an Apple (Maverick) issue since the printer will print as long as it doesn't come from the computer.

Hi chetw7,
I understand you are unable to print from the Maverick with the Officejet 8600.
Check to see what driver you are using.
Click on the Apple, click system and preferences, click the print & scan icon, highlight the printer, on the right side it should say what driver is installed.
(if the Airprint driver is being used it is the Apple preinstalled driver, delete it and add the printer name back in)
If you are still having issue I would verify and repair the disk permission on the Mac. On the Apple menu bar, click Go, applications, utilities, disk utility, click on Mac harddrive on the left side, click on verify disk permissions, when that is finished click repair disk permissions.
(when it is finished will show disk repair completed)
Then I would try printing from the Mac again.
You might have to delete and add the printer back in again.
Hope this helps.

Some macs doesn't allow adding printer even though it is boujour discoverable other Mac sees wired network printer, connects, but nothing ever comes out. (using secure air print)
HP Easy Start seems to have a recursive practice to install hp driver then reinstalls again using "current driver" .22 (5/11/15)
Printing seems to work during setup then after time (printer sleep or Mac sleep/reconnect to LAN) it stops being able to print. it does recognize printer, even connects at times, but then just sits there.
Seems to work on Windows 8.1 and Windows HP Print & Scan Doctor 4.6 indicate printer is fine.
Rebooted all systems and printers and router - repeatable results
Mac has all the latest updates installed
Not sure how to get help next level of support - dont want to return to best buy, but there doesn't seem to be a help phone number, what's the next step it's barely a week old since purchase. Right now this is a paperweight for my mac computers and spent alot of time with this. my HP officejet 8600 pro works great on both mac & PCs in same network

Problem with mac osx continues, more information. I did load the Printer SW prior to installing,
Found this link on apple site https://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US which was done. BUt in the supported printers list http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP this brand new HP m277 dw is NOT listed as supported, probably too new.. uuugh trouble with bleeding edge newness? Seems like the HP process for installing could be better. The officejet 8600 and laserjet 4250 (replaing with new printer) work.
Any thoughts on how to get this working or support from HP before I loose my return printer window of opportunity? I want to keep this if my printer could print.

Running into the same problem with a brand new CLJ M277dw
latest OSX, all SW driver updates installed including https://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US (the new M277 is not listed on supported printers) and am using the HP M277 driver (where Kind: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 )
Printer works fine with Windows PCs just not any macs. tried with multiple mac OSX systems.
This shouldn't be this HARD - HELP
HP OfficeJet 8600 works great no issues so I'm confused - lots of things pointing at firewall settings but if the 8600 works then the computers settings should be fine (right?)
Also tried using HP Easy Start (for Mac) but same results
On windows the HP Printer Doctor app says all settings are fine. (all green check marks)

WIth the new HP M277 dw the posted printer - driver is not listed, assuming because it is anew printer... What now?
