@wlgyl, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Thanks for sharing the screenshots — I can imagine how frustrating it must feel when something as routine as printing from your PC just…won’t work, especially when it works perfectly from your phone.

From what I see, the error code 0x8000ffff typically points to a driver or configuration issue. Windows seems to have trouble talking to the printer, even though it’s showing up in your list.

Here’s what I’d recommend:

Clear out the old drivers

Uninstall HP Smart Printing and any other HP-related drivers:

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Click on the printer > Remove

Press Win + R, type printui /s /t2 → remove any leftover HP drivers.

Reinstall the printer fresh

Restart your PC.

Go to HP’s official driver page, search for “DeskJet 4252e,” and download the Full Feature Software.

Install it with the printer connected or nearby.

Quick tip: Since it's working smoothly on your phone, it’s likely connected over Wi-Fi. Make sure your PC is on the same network as the printer.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

This fix did nothing.  Same error persists.

@wlgyl, thanks so much for the update — and I’m really sorry to hear the issue’s still clinging on despite those steps. I know how exhausting it is when tech just won’t listen, especially after you’ve already tried the reinstall route.

Let’s dive a little deeper:

Double-check connection magic
Even if the printer works fine from your phone, let’s make sure your PC isn’t on a different band (like 5GHz vs. 2.4GHz Wi-Fi). They feel connected, but often they’re not talking to each other properly.

Try adding it manually

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Click Add device, then “The printer I want isn’t listed”

Choose Add a printer using a TCP/IP address, and enter your printer’s IP (you can find it from the printer’s screen or HP Smart app)

Let me know how that goes — we’re in this together and we’ll get you printing again soon. 🖨

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

I have tried this wirelessly already, but I'll have to look around for the cord to try again manually.
