HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

I am trying to print greeting card stock.  The page feeds through, but ends up underneath the input tray and gives me a paper jam error.  I have tried redoing the paper (it's all new) and resetting my printer, but the same thing happens every time I print.  I am printing wireless using Windows 11 and HP Smart to print,  Newly reinstalled on a new computer with the latest drivers.

Hi @klraver,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand you have issues printing cardstock from your printer.

I'd like to help!

Did you make any changes to your printer?

What is the weight and size of the card stock you are using on your printer?

Have you tried printing using a different brand of paper?

Have you tried printing using a different application?

Please share the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better.

Excellent description and a great diagnosis. It is greatly appreciated.

I have checked the printer specifications, please find the supported card by your printer.

Your printer can support a Standard input capacity (cards) Up to 50 cards.

Also, the media weight supported by your printer is

Up to 200 g/m2 (110 lb index)

Try the steps recommended below.

  • Go to Control panel – Devices and Printers.
  • Right-Click on Officejet 8710 and select Printing Preferences.
  • Go to the Paper / Quality tab and change your paper type to "Cardstock" under media.
  • Also, if you are printing with Microsoft office / MS Word/ or any other program, make sure the media or paper type is also selected to the cardstock as well.

Please find the list of cardstock supported by your printer listed below.

Also, uninstall the printer software from the root level and install the full-feature printer software on your PC. (Windows Only)

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on the Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Update the full-feature printer software using this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
