HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw
Microsoft Windows 11

I have been unable to connect to my Color Laserjet MFP M293fdw.  When I print the Wireless Network Test Report Page it says:

"The wireless radio is not functioning. Contact HP support"

I'm assuming this means a component in the printer has failed.  How do I get a replacement?

Hi @existentialmutt,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283fdw is displaying "The wireless radio is not functioning", this typically indicates a hardware failure with the printer’s internal wireless module. Here’s what you can do:

Troubleshooting Steps Before Replacement

Try these steps first to confirm it's a hardware failure:

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from power, and wait 5 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check if Wi-Fi starts working.

Reset Network Settings

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
  • Try reconnecting to Wi-Fi after the reset.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Firmware.
  • If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.

Try Wired or USB Connection

  • If Wi-Fi is unavailable, connect the printer via Ethernet or USB to verify if printing works.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unplugging for 5 minutes and restarting brought the wifi connection back up.  Thanks!
