I'm NOT able to access my USB memory chip in my 8720 from my laptop. The printer is connected to Ethernet and all other functions seem to be working fine, such as https://192.168.1.254/. Note that I can access the memory stick in my Epson printer, while it's on ethernet.

Is memory_card still the name to use for the 8720? Yes, I do know how to map network drives... I'm on Windows 10. Do I need to enable/disble ipv6....tried it, but that didn't do anything, and neither did temporarily disabling Windows Defender.

I named my printer hp8720, and configured a static ip address of 192.168.1.254, which is outside the range of my DHCP limits...

C:\>ping hp8720 -4

And finally, both computers on my network have the same error....this one:

C:\>dir \\192.168.1.254\Memory_Card
The network path was not found.

The USB front print is a HOST USB port only.

I'm not sure what you're saying... Are you saying that we shouldn't be able to access the memory stick on the HP8720 printer from a laptop, when they're connected via Ethernet to the same network...that you'd need to be connected to the printer with a USB cable?

HP Recommended

The USB port on the front can only be accessed by the 8720, the ethernet can not access this port.

To confirm you can contact HP sales.

I don't think you're up on this topic... this is marked as an "accepted solution", and I'm pretty sure we are trying to do the same thing.

Hi ginger_berry,

How do you have the printer connected to your computer? (USB, Ethernet or Wireless)

Follow the steps below to map the card reader

1. Insert memory card into the printer
2. Open My Computer
3. Click on Map network drive
4. Choose desired Drive letter, and then enter \\192.168.1.101\memory_card in the folder

Note: Replace the 192.168.1.101 with the IP Address assigned to your printer.

5. Click finish, and the drive will open to access the files

That's why I suggested you contact HP support.

Are you able to read/save to the USB key from the printer?
