I'm seeing vertical white lines on my printouts. It seems to be coming from the black print head, colours are ok but faded if there's any black in there. Black text has a missing vertical line through it. I've reinstalled the driver, although it also does it when copying so I didn't expect this to cure it.

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post that you are having issues while printing from your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry we're here to help you.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Have you refilled any low or empty ink tanks.
Have you checked the ink delivery system?
Have you tried to print the print quality test report from the printer?
Have you tried to run the printhead cleaning utility using the HP Software.
Did you try to align the printhead using the HP Software?
This looks like a possible hardware failure, however, I would suggest you go through these steps first:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Alternatively, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP DeskJet GT 5810, 5820 Printers - Color or Black Ink Not Printing; Other Print Quality Issues
If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue. I would personally suggest this could be a possible hardware failure with the printer.
I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

I have the 5820 and encountering similar problems. The vertical lines appeared when I transferred my printer to a different table. I hope you could help me as well, I followed the recommended troubleshooting methods I could find here at the HP community.
Thank you.
