Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

macOS 10.15 Catalina

I updated to the latest software and since I did when I go to scan I get the message 'Automatic Document Feeder is Empty' and it wants me to place the item into the Automatic Document Feeder and start again.  Since I am usually scanning old documents of pictures I have never used the document feeder and don't plan to start now.  Is there a setting that I can get back where I can just lift the cover, place the item on the glass, and have it scanned?

To better assist you - Are you trying to scan using the HP Easy Scan or Image Capture? If you are using HP Easy Scan, please try scanning using the Image Capture.

To better assist you - Are you trying to scan using the HP Easy Scan or Image Capture? If you are using HP Easy Scan, please try scanning using the Image Capture.

Yes, Image Capture worked.  It is not as complete as the HP program, but it did work.

Will this be fixed by HP or do we have to use Image capture?

HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina. We're actively working to restore complete functionality. Refer to the document HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina for help.
