Has anyone been able to resolve the Scan to Email Protocol not supported error yet? I have 2 HP's and different homes and neither works. I've tried my AOL and AT&T email addresses. They worked about a week ago. I also no longer get my incoming faxes forwarded to my email. I use both heavily. HELP???
I tried to search the board and couldn't figure it out.... (Not sure which Windows 10, just know it's 10 and a brand new Dell laptop)

Hi,
Regarding AT&T, their Email protocol switched to OAuth, a security protocol whihc is not supported by your printer and thereofre it fails to connect:
https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/email-support/KM1240462
Also AOL has updated their security settings lately which may cause the issue, please ensure you use the proper settings as described belowand check if that makes any difference:
https://help.aol.com/articles/secure-mail-connection-faq
Generally many email providers as AT&A, AOL, Yahoo has changed their security protocols in the last weeks which may cause the printer a problem to connect to their servers, if both do not work I suggest setting a Gmail account and test, as well you may need to adjust some security settings as described below:
First open the following link and ensure you are logged on to the same account as you are setting for the printer.
https://myaccount.google.com/
Within the Sign-in & security section click on Signing in to Google and ensure that "2-Step Verification" is set as "Off".
Within the left pane click on Connected apps & sites and ensure that "Access for less secure apps" is set as "ON", otherwise the verification will fail.
As well be sure to review your email once testing the connection from the printer, it may block the connection attempt and require to verify it through your email account...
Hope that helps,
Shlomi

GOT IT TO WORK!!! Yes I am yelling. Sadly only could get to work with a gmail email address. So now I have 4 different ones. I'm just happy it's finally working. HP / AOL / AT&T need to get it together and make it work as it did before. Thank you Shiomi!

Am I the only one that thinks that HP Should fix their product with new programming that allows you to use the scan feature on their machines? Come on.... their a multi billion dollar company and the only way around this issue is to get a gmail account? That’s a crock of crap. Looks like my all in one is going all the way back to the store.

Hi Austin14,
This has worked for me before and only last month it stopped working. i am using an HP Officejet 8600. I have tried all tricks and security changes to enable the gmail account to work but nothing seem to work. it keeps giving me SMTP and DNS fail to connect. i have used gmail, hotmail and our domain address. What else can be the problem here. The first time i bought the printer and configured scan to mail it all worked perfectly without any problem.
On my other mfp 227fdn the strange thing is, i managed to configure scan to email by just adding the address book with emails of recepients and the scan just works without having to configure the outgoing settings on scan to email. can anyone help
