Violator, thanks for the info, however, removal of that key has had no effect. As perhte other suggestions I cannot locate some of the files that have been mentioned in some of the other solutions. e.g. hpqscnw

Thanks again anyway.

I have a similar problem. I'm using Windows Vista at home and XP at the office, had an All-In-One 4355 driver working for years, then I bought a All-In-One J4660. And this is when the problems started. I solved this at my office with I completely uninstalled the old driver (and new driver) and installed the new driver from scratch.

Problem is, what if I bring my laptop from home to the office, do I have to re-install the driver or worst still uninstall the J4660, install the 4355, and vice versa when I work from home?

I can't seem to find clear documentation to how to solve this basic problem. This loyal HP customer feels like maybe if I wasn't so loyal and bought another brand, I wouldn't have this problem.

Hi WayneZ,

On my Windows Vista laptop, I followed DexterM's instructions but at Step 5, I typed "%APPDATA%" instead of the "C:\Users\..." and I found the corresponding directory. And while this allowed me to Scan, but it did not remove the CUE Scanning Flow error message.

I have essentially given up and use the back door method via the "hpqscnvw.exe" which I have placed a shortcut on my desktop.  Its a pain because it does not let me copy directly to PDF files so I have to copy it to a Bitmap image then resave it in PDF format using Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 9.  The HP software has loaded itself on to my computer three times now, ie  the printer shows up three times (normal, copy 1, and copy 2) as it reloads itself every time a power outage occurs at the house.  I am afraid to uninstall and try to clean it out because HP software support tried to do it about 5 times unsuccessfully and I did it about 3 times also without fixing this error message.  It is definitely a problem with compatitbility with Microsft Vista and HP Software (this was confirmed by HP but they still would not honor their warranty as stated on the box and their web site).  What's really funny is I can only print from the "normal" printer loaded and can scan only on the "Copy 1" version of the printer loaded.  I haven't even figured out what the "Copy 2" version does and am afraid to try it to find out.  To put it bluntly, HP has lost a customer for life with me for not honoring their warranty.  I will never buy anohter HP product and if given a choice in business will not pick any HP products also.  It's a shame because their hardware is not that bad, their software though absolutely is poorly written and perfomrs poorly.  They really should just outsource their software wirting to a firm that knows how to do it.  They would be better off and their support for their customers would probably improve.

I couldn't find the hpqscnvw file. So I'm stuck.... Please let me know if there's other way to fix this problem.. I really need to use the scanner.

Try to see if this file is in your HP Bin folder: hpiscnapp.exe  .  If it is, use my instrucitons from earlier in this post to set up a shortcut on your desktop, it should do the same thing as the previously mentioned file.

 Oh I'm so happy! Thank you, Thank you - Thank you Wayne!!!

Finding the scan app worked! I created a short cut on my desktop and am using that. I presume it will work once pc is shut down and turn back on tomorrow. This has been bugging me for a few days trying to figure this problem out. This didn't fix it but it sure beats any thing else. I've tried everything!!! I've been in the registry, in the system looking for files/folders that aren't there [at least at the very end] fixed user names -all that stuff. This short cut to the scan application worked! Whew! What a chore!! :smileyindifferent:

The error message does not go away because it does not fix the HP software problem.  All it does is allow you to scan.

Your welcome little foot.  The sad part is that HP won't fix their software to make their products work properly as they advertise.  Some day us "little" people will rise up and correct these kind of companies.
