Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I've owned this printer for a few years.  I believe some new HP software was recently installed.  Now, each time I open the app to do a quick scan, it tells me I must log in.  This takes me to a screen where often I have to do silly human tricks to prove I'm a human, and usually results in the web-site saying it is taking longer than expected.  Eventually, I can scan.

I've never had to do this before.  Is there some setting to make it remember the log in if that's needed for some reason?

 Thank you.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Which application are you using to scan?

I'm on a Mac using Ventura 13.0.1.

I use the HP Smart software to scan.  It reads version 14.0.1.  I may be wrong but I think it may have recently installed an update as well.

I'm going to give this a shot to re-install, I guess, but even HP's own instructions per the link you sent have this note:

2. If you are setting up HP Smart for the first time, you must create or sign in to an HP account to access all printer functions.

I'm not sure why I need an account simply to scan something, so now I'm wondering if this required sign-in is mandatory?  I'm not sure if Apple is keeping it from working or HP.

I will try to re-install.  Thanks.

Thank you!  The re-install seems to have done the trick.   FYI that I did not have the folder in the user library that it was suggested I delete.  I could not find any folder called HPSMART but I did remove it from the applications and re-install.  Seems to have worked.  Thank you!
