So, I was pretty thrilled to successfully set up my network folder. That excitement quickly faded.
Every time I scan something, it comes through as 0 bytes. Color PDF, B/W PDF, TIFF, JPEG, all the same result. This is with the multi document scanner, by the way.
What could be happening? I certainly have the papers turned the right way, but even if I didn't that'd be irrelevant, because a totally white PDF would still have a file size.
Thanks for your help,
Brian

Hello VMey
Try scanning to your computer as opposed to the network folder and see if it still appears as 0 bytes. Is the network folder on your computer, another computer, or a network attached storage device?

Hello bthuey
Are you scanning to a folder on the network or directly connected through USB? Explain your setup and how exactly you are scanning. Are you initiating the scan from the computer or the printer panel? Did you upgrade you computer's operating system or did you buy a new computer that came with Windows 8? If you upgraded what operating system did you have installed previously?

I'm having the exact same problem after upgrading to Windows 8. Oddly, emailing the document still works. Incidentally, I have tried fully uninstalling and re-installing the software, and have disabled Norton, etc. No luck. Also, the "network folder" is just a folder on my hard drive, so we have covered that angle. Help!

Has there been any developments on this? I recently upgraded to W8x64 and have this same issue. I have done a reset, restore factory defaults, complete factory reset, changed folder permissions, unistalled and reinstalled all drivers etc., smashed it with a hammer and nothing works! HP, I know Im not the only one with this extreamlly frustrating issue! I depend on the scan function to run my home bussiness. Please help!

Hello everyone
I have a few questions about your setups. You all mention having Windows 8 and the Officejet Pro 8500 A909 series, but I would like to know a little more about your setup.
Do you have a username and password setup on the machine? Using your computer, can you save files into the destination folder?

I do have a username and password setup and it is working. A few things that do work
1) San to email
2) Scan to device
Things that do not work
1) Scan to newtwork folder
2) Scan from HP Solution Center (See attached error message). I had this error message for the longest time when I first bought the machine and then a release came out that fixed it. Now I have it again. I have done ever kind of reset, uninstall-reinstall etc. possible.
