Hi Shane,

Just wanted to check in and see if us A909g owners will be getting a firmware fix.

If not, how can we petition for one?  Is there anyone we can appeal to?  I hate having this great piece of equipment whose functionality has been hamstrung.

Just noticed this was released fall of 2012: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-110033-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...

Its a driver, not firmware.  Forgive my ignorance, but I assume they're different?  Firmware updates the software on the actual printer, while drivers work on the interface between printer and computer, correct?

Hello Travis,

I have the same 0 byte file problem ever since I moved my network drive to a Windows 8 machine - using my HP Officejet L7650 - I have followed the thread and even flashed with the current firmware - but no luck... the scanner works fine except to the network drive where it leaves behind 0 byte files...

Any help for the L7650 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

certainly looks like there is NOT a solution to this problem.

MY solution will be to buy a new printer, and never, ever, EVER, EVER buy another HP product. To not support and consider a 2 or 3 yr old printer "obsolete" is absurd. Ubnfortunately, like many, I still have more money invested in remaining ink cartidges than a new printer cost!

Nevertheless, I sold all my HP stock a number of years ago and this is clearly the last piece of HP hardware I will ever own. "hardware" is well made but software and support is non-existant.

I too am very unhappy that HP is not supporting the A909 to make the scan to network feature work with Windows 8/8.1.    It just does not work.    It is not a driver issue or printer software (on the computer) issue.

The drivers don't even get involved in a scan to the network situation, it is simply the printer communicating with a network share via it's firmware.

Luckily I have another WHS2011 machine on my own network that I can scan my documents too and then share them with my other machines from there.

NOTE:   the  machine that has the network folder I'm allowing the HP 8500 A909g to scan to doesn't have any HP software installed on it whatsoever.  That proves that the HP drivers or software have nothing to do with it!  It's purely a firmware issue.

It's a firmware problem between Win8 and the A909.    HP knew how to fix it in the A910 and they should do the same thing for the A909.

If HP doesn't release a fix by the time my ink is gone, I am saying goodbye to them forever.

Re-confirming the fix.  Had the same issue on my system; Windows 8.1 with an HP OfficeJet 8500 909g (make sure you get the correct firmware update for your system).  With the updated firmware, the documents are saving to the network perfectly.
