Indeed. Help is needed. I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 series.

Scanning is not possible from the printer. Some options work from a program but very clumsy. 

And I tried to scan to a USB and the display's says that it is saved but nothing is found on the USB stick, independent of the format I use. (Windows or Mac).  That was a solution for I have a bulk of documents (via feeder) to scan en due to the problems I cannot do this.

From the printer it says it cannot find a computer.  

 

14.1 does not help. Printing is OK, but scanning not.

same here on a hp Pagewide Pro 477dw and MacOS 14.1 -- scanning through the printer website does work though. Uncomfortable! I am puzzled that HP has not addressed the problem yet. Or is it Apple's fault? One never knows. It is a core function, therefore urgent!

I'm having the same problem with my HP OfficeJet 7740. I tried to contact customer support, but apparently that isn't an option unless the printer is still under warranty. I don't see any replies from HP on this forum, is anyone at HP reading this? Is there a plan to fix this issue? If I don't hear back soon I'll need to buy a new scanner/printer and I'd lean toward another manufacturer.

Here is what fixed it for me (HP Pagewide Pro 477DW/MacOS Sonoma 14.1): There is a new Firmware for that MFP which can be found on the HP website (somewhat hidden. Here is the link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/details/hp-pagewide-pro-477dw-multifunction-printer-series/7439...) You have to download and then use a USB-A stick to feed it into the printer. After updating the firmware, download Easy Admin as published on October 31st, 2023. Through Easy Admin get the latest drivers (Easy Scan and the package). Install the original HP driver through adding that printer from the list (chose driver manually, not automatic since it will then select AirPrint). Avtivate "Scan to Desktop" through the printer utility program -- and everything will work as before the September firmware update and/or the update from Ventura to Sonoma. The firmware update of the 477DW is essential. I have tried it out on a friend's 477DW without updating the firmware first and it would NOT work. I don't know whether this is the most efficient/elegant solution and whether it can be applied to other models, but it does work.

Sorry not for me. On the website there seems to be for my HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 series printer an older one then the one that is  installed on my printer.

Already installed Sonoma 14.1.  Yet still failed to scan.  My MacBook shows only the HP MFP m29w as printer --- NO scanner detected !)
