Are you god **bleep** serious? I've lost my patience with this thing. Used to scan through USB, but the part on the printer ripped off from repeatedly plugging in and pulling out. Then connected through Ethernet cable. Would not scan. Turns out printer had to be plugged into a wall outlet instead of power bar. Okay.

And now it's not scanning again, but this time I literally have not touched it since the last time after I plugged it into the wall. The device is offline on my computer but can still print documents, but it won't scan. I checked the power cord on the printer and it's not loose on either end. All my drivers should be up to date.

Alright, this should allow you to scan:

  1. If the printer is connected through a USB cable to your PC, remove it.
  2. Click on Start and open Devices and Printers.
  3. Right-click on any icon of your printer listed.
  4. Click on Remove Device.
  5. Repeat for any other icons of your printer listed.
  6. Download and install the latest drivers by clicking on this link.

Please let me know the results after doing the above.

Hey @SYZekrom,

I see that you are having some issues with scanning from your Laserjet M1212nf Printer to your Windows 7 PC. I can help you with that.

To start, run the Print and Scan Doctor. When you do so it will either resolve any issues it finds on your PC or it will provide you a list of things it could not resolve. If it can not resolve everything, please let me know what tests it failed.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are able to scan, please click on Accept Solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. Both icons are below this post.

I have already used this before, but I'll try it again.

Just like before, it is telling me that I do not have "the full software solution to my product". It said this the first time I used it. I have already tried downloading the latest software a month ago the first time I had problems scanning and tried to use this Doctor tool.

The page the Get Installer button leads me to has a Check Now for updates. It says "HP has scanned your product but currently has no suggestions for driver updates."

If it is any help, the scan doctor detects my printer twice, once as "Jason MFP (HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP)" and once as "HP LaserJet Professional M1212nf MFP". The scan doctor says the same thing for both options. The latter option appeared after I plugged the printer directly into the wall.

Note: I chose the option Add another printer.

Annoyingly, it printed a full test page with a large black picture of the control panel at the top without asking me.

"HP Registration Service Temporarily Unavailable" I'm not sure if I need to register the product again.

After installation was finished, the tool had a link "Click here to download XPS driver". I was allowed to Finish without clicking the link.

Thank you! I am now able to scan once again.
