I'm having this exact problem (but I wasn't able to just comment on the issue because it's been locked)
https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/Scanning-to-Network-Folder-via-DNS-no-longer-w...

I have a HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw that's wired into the network with an ethernet cable.

It was working with a named device (a Synology NAS), but now it only works if I type in a specific IP address.

This used to work and doesn't now:
\\jupiter\Dan\Scanned Documents

This works now, but I'd rather use the named device if the IP address changes.
\\192.168.1.64\Dan\Scanned Documents

I am able to access the named device on multiple devices on the network and it works if I use the specific IP
(again, exactly what the post above was commenting on)

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you want to set up a scan to the network folder, I am glad to assist you.

You might have to set up the scan to the Network folder again using the Wizard.

Refer to page number 61 in this user guide for the steps:- Click here

your post suggests that no devices that access can use a name. If that is the case, whatever is acting as your DNS server does not contain a correct routing table. A DNS server provides a conversion from a name to an IP address so that devices can find other devices. Depending on your network that might be your router or a server. Either your primary or secondary DNS entry must be that device. Your other option is to apply static IP addresses to all your devices and use IP address instead of a name when specifying a scan to location.
