Hello Miles
Are you able to duplex from Microsoft Office, Wordpad, or Notepad?
How is the printer connected to your computer? Have you tried restarting your computer?

Hello Miles
Please try printing with the duplex option in Word for verification.
Have you tried re-installing the printer?
The easiest way to isolate the problem would be to install the Officejet on another computer. If you have another computer and do this let me know if that one can' print with the duplex option.

Hey, waht difference does it make???!!! The stupid printer CANNOT print or copy 2-sided automatically!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did some research and apparently the 'a' series cannat duplex anything automatically as is stated on the box. I think this may be false advertising. All the printers in this series comes in the same box with the same features printed on the box BUT the ''a" series is at the low end and cannot does not have all the features. So here is my solution: put it in a different box that does not say it can AUTOMATICALLY print and copy 2-sided!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello thinmanshawn
I have just re-verified that my Officejet Pro 8600 N911a can both duplex print and duplex copy (from the flat bed).
Make sure you are on the latest firmware: Officejet Pro 8600 N911a Firmware
Do you receive any errors or does it just not duplex it? What kind of document are you trying to duplex (print and copy)?

Hello chogan
The ADF on the Officejet Pro 8600 N911a does not have the ability to make a two-sided copy. This is because the ADF does not have a duplex unit to pull the original document back in and flip it so that the other side can be copied.
You can make two-sided copies from the flatbed by setting the option and flipping the page after the first side is copied.

Thank you!
It's not exactly how i wished it would work but at least i can do it now!
It's slightly confusing as you have to select 1-Sided Original to 2-Sided copy.....you'd think it would say "2-Sided original to 2-Sided copy"
but whatever - at least i now know how to do it.
Thanks
Christy

Hello Christy
Glad to be of assistance. What Super_Dave probably meant by his post is that the N911g and N911n models of the Officejet Pro 8600 have the Duplexing ADF that can make double sided copies. The N911a model which we both have can only do it manually.
I will pass your comment about the naming of that option on to someone. Thanks for the feedback.
