Hi, thanks for the post.

So far I have uninstalled the software, like you recommended.  However, I have not been able to reinstall it because during the installation process, the printer can't be found, after I indicate that the printer is connected on the network.

I just tried to print a document from another computer on my network.  But, that other computer said that the printer is offline and even when I went over to the printer and touched the screen to wake it up, it still didn't work.  I turned the printer off and then on again and then it worked.  Is there a way to have the printer not try to do a flatbed scan every time that I turn on the printer?  It seems to do that each time, even though there is nothing on the flatbed scanner.

@Silverthunder

Glad to hear that its working now.

Does the printer scans an image and send it to your PC as soon as you turn on the printer?

Any error on the printer display when you turn on the printer?

I don't consider it to be working.  We are in a bit of a worse situation than when I started this thread.

1) the software wont install on the computer that you told me to uninstall the software from.  See previous post with detail on that.

2) for the printing to work on another computer, I have to turn the printer off and then on again (I think every time, right before I print)

3) When I select scan on your device, there is no list of computer that are powered on.

Let's troubleshoot the print not found during network driver Setup issue, you may use the steps available here to troubleshoot and resolve issue.

Let me know how it goes!

I worked through the troubleshooting steps that you linked me to.  I could not solve the problem using that.  I got to the step that says to use the print and scan doctor software.  This software gets to a screen that says "step 1, choose your product."  Yet, there are no products listed there.  The steps in the troubleshooting after that either involve the print and scan doctor or involve reinstalling the software entirely.  These are both dead ends.

As an aside, Windows is able to find the printer on the network.  But, that's an alternate way to install the printer and does not give the desired scan to computer that I like to use.

I'm afraid, we have tried all possible steps that I could think of. I've send you a private message with the next course of actions. Could you please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.
Have a great day!

I don't know if it will make sense for me to pay for the support, given that a new printer would only cost a little more, with holiday sales coming up.

Since the issue is only with this PC, you may try refreshing Windows 10, the steps mentioned in this document should help you refresh Windows 10 without loosing any of your data.

Hi,

Is your printer connected wirelessly or with an ethernet cable?

If it is connected with a cable to your router please unplug the cable from the printer.

Click the WiFi icon on the printer screen and then press the settings button or the gear icon.

Select Restore Network Defaults and confirm any prompt.

For an ethernet connection plug the cable back at this time.

For a Wireless connection click the Wifi icon and then go to Settings, select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the steps on screen to select your network and provide its password.

Click the WiFi or the Ethernet icon on the printer and locate its IP address.

Can you access that address through a browser on your computer?

Once verifying that, reinstall the HP Software and check for any difference.

Hope that may help,

Shlomi
