Hello, @BigGuy57 – Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for engaging in the HP Forums! I will certainly do my best to help you 🙂
I understand you are getting vertical lines while scanning with your Officejet 8600 printer. Let’s first perform a hard reset and connect the printer directly to the wall outlet.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer. (It’s important because 8600 has an internal surge protector & won’t work well with an external one)
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
If the issue persists, check the figure below and clean thoroughly the numbered regions. That should definitely get the issue fixed. Check http://hp.care/2cMdwXy for more instructions.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
Good luck 🙂
