This is getting really urgent for me, I want this to be a Christmas present. Do you work for HP support? Is there any way of getting a level 3 tech to remote into the TP and diagnose? Or a beta version of a new upgrade to try?
thx

Thanks I'll have a look for that test. I changed my WiFi mode to g only, and so far so good. But I was at a friends house earlier and each time the to was woken after sleeping it said it was connected to the WiFi but pages wouldn't load.

Nope, I'm not an HP Employee. I do know that the logs and Diagnostic results can be sent to the Engineering group at HP, but they don't go to the call center guys directly. Also, the call center guys can't remotely login to your device. As far as I know about beta versions, you'd have to be a developer. I know they get stuff early to try/write code for, but that's all under NDA and you wouldn't be able to talk about/share it with anybody.

I have same issue, just bought one and I can not get it connected to the wifi and I am stuck, can not proceed to set it up. What do I need to do to get past this issue? I have entered the password, but that is not enough, it wants more information about the router. We put in the information and it shows connected with a "check mark" but it will not move from that screen. What to do? Really frustrated because I can not go forward with this device.

If your HP Touchpad will connect to your wifi network, but won't connect to the internet, here is the fix:
For some reason, the Touchpad sometimes doesn't connect to the internet with the automatically assigned IP address. The solution is to change the automatically assigned IP address while leaving everything else the same.
1 - tap on the wifi symbol at the top of the screen.
2 - select your wireless network (there should already be a blue checkmark next to it)
3 - select Wi-Fi Preferences
4 - a white screen will appear with all the available networks, yours should have a blue check mark
5 - select your network
6 - a screen should appear with your settings, and a "switch" for automatic IP settings - write down your IP address
7 - change the automatic IP settings to "Off" - your IP address and subnet address will disappear
8 - enter a new IP address, leaving the first 3 numbers the same, but changing the last number to one that you know is available. If you are on a corporate network, check with your network admin. If you're at home, unless you have dozens of devices, you should be able to choose a random number between 96 and 255 and have it work.
9 - the system will automatically assign the subnet address
10 - select "done" and the system should automatically reconnect and allow you to access the internet.

Ridius has posted a suggested edit (not for the faint of heart, but doable)
And Speedtouch has had success with his suggestion to change your DNS servers in your router to OpenDNS.org's servers.
I'd give them both a try if still experiencing wifi issues. I wish I had some first-hand info to share, but all my devices in my house work perfectly with my NetGear WNDR-3700. I'm talking Palm TX, Zire72, Wii, Pre2/3, TouchPad, etc.!
