I've seen multiple posts here about this same issue: Printer attempts to download firmware, and fails. I hit "ok" and the printer restarts this also disconnects the wifi. I set up wifi. Then a while later it is attempting to download again. This results in the printer being disconnected from wifi. This printer is now completely useless. Over and over.

 

in the HP smart app, you can NOT uncheck the option to stop automatic updates of the firmware. So this will go on and on. I attempted to update the firmware from the HP smart app and it hung forever until I navigated back to the main screen.

 

Unplugging for more than 60 seconds did not work.  I already know that I'll be buying another printer since the only solution I keep seeing is - (trying not to swear) unlpug it and plug it back in. Wow.
