HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ew0000 (549V6AV)

I opened my Envy this morning only for the right hinge of the laptop to break into small plastic pieces along my desk, not only warping the screen but creating ever-growing cracks along the bottom-right of the display. I fear closing the laptop now will only worsen the situation. My warranty expired on this machine last year, yet I did nothing out of the ordinary today when opening it. Is this a common issue with the Envy model? And what's suggested for finding a way to repair my device? I need this laptop for work. Thank you.

Images provided below. Warranty or not, I do have to express frustration about being charged for repairs to what appears to be a manufacturing defect, especially given that I've seen more than one post made by this community within the last 72 hours discussing the same issue that I'm currently facing in regards to HP laptops (Example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4, Example 5, Example 6, Example 7), but this can be discussed further in private. I appreciate your assistance.
