Hey guys! For those who dont know how to solve this issue. I have solution. I have installed this battery:
Delivery took one week with very good service.
it looks exactly same as original HP battery and all works well.
Except the Spectre recognizes this battery as non original so there is not possible to make battery calibration. So I have just let it fully charge and fully discharge (once down to 1%) hoping the internal circuits can be calibrated this way. Otherwise I do not know what else to do to make this better. It is pity there is not possible to adjust how much the battery should be charged as often seen on much cheaper laptops. I would prefer to charge just to 80% I believe this could improve battery lifetime as connected to mains long time. Otherwise as far I know it is not good to fully discharge for battery lifetime also and the big issue could be temperature but this is not easy to avoid sometimes.
All best!

I am also having the same issue. Can't figure out a way to contact support. Battery expanded enough to split the bottom case cover. I unscrewed it and found the battery 3-4x bigger than it should be.

Same problem.....I quite sure this has to do with the charge management, I had a Samsung for 6 Years and I sold yet running with 1.5 Hr of batterry life.
Another thing I learnt, the laptop doesn`t work as a desktop you remove the battery and you have to put another one, as I am afraid the problem with the battery gets worse, like leaking, I took it off .....
Any part number better than this, or should I expect to replace the battery every 2 year. (

@Betty0610
Please add me to the list. I have the same issue.
I am very upset and dissatisfied with your solution, the battery from Amazon is not original and gives errors during take off Provide us on your platform an original battery I regret buying this HP laptop at such a high price!
Thanks!

I have the same issue as well. HP Parts Store doesn't have the battery, so is the only option left to buy from a third-party seller on Amazon or eBay, for god knows what? I spent a lot of money on this device to future-proof it, but lo and behold... it's literally falling apart! And can't get ahold of someone from HP if my life depended on it.

Hi,
Exactly same problem here. HP Spectre 15t-CH000, purchased September 2018.
My spacebar was barely working and the back cover is bulged. Never realized the underlying problem was the battery. Until the battery died on me last weekend without warning and I started searching for a replacement and found this message.
Funny background story. I purchased this laptop in September 2018 to replace my 2012 Dell laptop. At 6 years old I was expecting the Dell to die soon. 2 years later, the HP Spectre is dead, and my Dell from 2012 is still running and used daily.
Design flaws can happen, and I don't expect HP to give me a new laptop or battery. But when you buy a top of the line laptop and everybody has the same issue with it, you would expect HP to come at least with a solution. This was a 1700 USD laptop. It should last longer than 2 years.
Kind Regards,
Wim

Funny thing , I have the exact same situation: a 2012 Dell Vostro 15" laptop which has never caused any sort of trouble and a Spectre x360 15" purchased in September 2018 which has since developed a defective screen, noisy fans and battery that had swelled to the point of cracking open the bottom cover. I even purchased a 2 year Care Pack from HP in June 2019, thinking I was buying myself two more years of warranty. But no, I was told afterwards that the CarePack starts at the date of purchase of the laptop, not at the expiration of the basic 1st year of warranty. So I had basically bought only one additional year and that made it expensive and useless because my problemes started last November. The HP website had me running around in circles trying to find a contact until I finally found a phone number for their professional line of products. I spoke with an agent, explained my dissatisfaction with the laptop problems and the warranty situation and she kept repeating that there would be charges for the repairs, which I declined to pay for such an expensive computer. She called me back the next Monday to announce that she had agreed to fix the computer problems for free, screen, fan and battery, even including return shipping at their expense. So indeed three days later I had an empty pre-addressed UPS box with packaging material inside. I packed my laptop, dropped it at a local UPS store and less than a week later, I got it back completely fixed and as good as new !! I guess I came across the right HP rep after all...

I also purchased a battery from Amazon and it has worked perfectly well, without any warning about being counterfeit or not an original HP product. It is this one:
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0897B3T1L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I took it out because HP installed a brand-new one at their expense as part of a major repair which I explain in another post

Hey Patate33,
What's your laptop's model number?
The Amazon reviews for the battery you listed shows multiples users receiving the non-genuine battery message.
Anyway, I personally wouldn't advise people to buy batteries from third party/disreputable manufacturers. The risk isn't worth it to me.
