Of notebook battery doesn't charge so have to plug in if I use it. Bought from Argos this year but they say not their problem. Surely under warranty for repair / replacement ? Lap top in otherwise perfect condition

Yes in most places laptops purchased new have a 1 year warranty on the battery. Can we have the model number and the date of purchase. We can then steer you to the right place to make a warranty claim. We cannot do that in this Forum.

You can use the serial number of the laptop. I cannot read the directions to you. Go slowly and follow the onscreen prompts.
