Hello @jasonklamm
(1) Please temporarily change the BIOS settings, save and exit:
- BIOS > Configuration:
Virtualization Technology [Disabled] ( we will not use VMWare or WSL at this moment ... ) - BIOS > Boot Options:
POST HotKey Delay (sec) [5]
UEFI Boot Order
(put in the first place) -> USB Flash Drive/USB Hard Disk
(2) Quick format <USB flash drive> ( the type of formatting is not important )
(3) Create <USB flash drive> again using HP Cloud Recovery Tool
(4) Repeat HP Cloud Recovery Setup using bootable <USB flash drive>
(5) Please report your results

Hello @jasonklamm

This is unusual... Well please perform the official installation from Microsoft:
Use the official Microsoft method:

Do not install HP drivers after installation is finished, I decide which drivers to use. |
- Create windows system <restore point> with name: "initial setup"
How to Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Please start windows <device manager>
- expand all sections that need driver update ( unknown device, yellow exclamation mark ... )

Sorry to hear...
All Our possibilities are now exhausted. According to your own statement, you bought the touchpad from HP, so please contact HP. Either the touchpad is technically not capable for Windows-only operation, or HP needs to run a diagnostic and provide a new driver.
Keep me updated
Good luck

No, I never said I bought it from HP. I bought an HP part from a third party, which I mentioned before. Obviously there's no hardware issue. I've seen other people online with this same issue, it just seems HP has no idea how to fix it.

Well it doesn't matter ... If it's an genuine HP part, you'll get support from the vendor (and the vendor from HP).
Kind regards

(1) Create windows system <restore point>
How to Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10 or Windows 11
(2) I have found a driver for Windows 11. It probably won't work in Windows 10, but could you try anyway ?
ELAN Precision Touchpad Filter Driver | 22.2.27.1 Rev.A | 2.6 MB | Jun 9, 2022 | Download |
( Windows 11 )
- Extract the file sp140452.exe using 7-zip
