Pavillion
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have a Envy 5532 Printer that is used by both an Apple MacBook 2,0, HP DV 6500 and several mobile devices.  To save on printer ink, I thought about printing in what is known to me as draft mode.  As far as I can tell, there s no option to make Print Quality changes on a Print Screen.  Is the Draft Mode available for the Envy 5532 and if so, how can I change it?

Aardvark1,

Thank you for responding.  I thought my issue might have gotten lost

Re: What OS X version is on your Mac Book? I'll find you instructions for printing in draft mode:

My MacBook 2,1 uses OS X 10.6.8.  FYI, I also use a HP Pavillion dv 6500 using Windows 7.

Thank you for providing information that my iPad  cannot use draft mode, but I will read the links you provided on HP ePrint. to see if it will work with the iPad

Hi @Blazer5

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are trying to print in draft mode. I would like to help.

The Envy 5532 does have the ability to print in draft mode. Printers are not set to draft mode via the front panel. You have to set the printer to draft mode via the printer preferences.

What OS X version is on your Mac Book? I'll find you instructions for printing in draft mode.

The mobile devices are different. If your devices are iOS and you use Airprint, then draft mode is not available.

You can use the HP ePrint app. It does have a draft mode and is supported by iOS and Android devices.

Apple didn't make this easy to find. Found it in a post by ShlomiL. Checked on my cousins Mac (I'm a Windows/Mobile device user).

Seems legitimate to me. 🙂

1.From the File menu, select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized. Click the blue triangle next to the printer name (OS X 10.5 or 10.6) or the Show Details buttom (OS X 10.7) to see all available settings.

2. Click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.

3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.

4.. Set the Qultity as Fast Draft.

Aardvark,

Thanks for checking the steps for the Mac, I will check.  I have an older Mac desktop conected directly to a HP PSC2110 and I use the the steps you  outlined above and since I do not have my MacBook readily available to check,  I do not doubt that the steps should be the same.

Re: the iPad, I read the docs relating to ePrint and I think I will try that also.

Thanks again,

Blazer5
