unfortunately, that was not the case in our situation.  I finally threw the printer away and swore to never buy an HP product again.  I bought two different HP laptops through the year sthat both were unimpressive, including one that basically had so much crap running in the background that COULD NOT be removed that it had hardly any memory for running programs, and the other just randomly rebooted.  The one that was overloaded with HP programs would blue screen occasionally, and people were all over the internet screaming about it but they did nothing to respond to people's complaints.  Immediately they blamed it on programs the user installed. . . I guess if you buy one of their laptops, you need to ONLY use the programs they installed and NEVER EVER install any programs of your own.  And we're not talking strange programs, we're talking Quickbooks, Quicken, Word, Itunes, really, basic common programs.  HP is one of the new breed of businesses who rely on volume, new users with little experience, etc to push their products and they don't care about supporting the products they sell, building customer loyalty, etc.  Basically, they try to build as cheap as possible, knowing people will buy and toss.  It's a business model that mimics the Chinese, and we all know how much people except "quality" when they buy Chinese products (no offense to any Chinese members of this forum, just saying......")

I have been fighting this issue on a customer's M476 since yesterday, and can definitively say it is NOT a fuser issue (I have been through 3 of them, 2 NIB and 1 used). It certainly appears to be a sensor issue - I am disassembling now to diagnose them individually. I have another one here in the shop to get parts from if necessary. Will post with a solution if I happen to find it.

Quick update: I thought it was the sensor bank attached to the Delivery Assembly, but no go. Paper still "jams" 95% through the fuser. Next step is the DC Controller.

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having issues with the paper getting jam on your HP printer. Don't worry I'll be really glad to help you with this.

 

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Could you provide me with the Printer product number and Operating system installed on the PC? (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...) http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Have you tried to check if the carriage moves freely?

Have you tried to clear the Paper Jam from the printer?

 

In the meantime, let's try to perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Good evening. I performed the steps outlined and it did not resolve the problem. I am running Windows 7 and the printer is a LaserJet Pro M451NW. I still get this error after every print. Thanks

Good luck cnbg!  Maybe since you're an honor student you'll be able to figure out this problem that literally hundreds of people before you have not been able to solve and HP has been completely and utterly worthless in helping!

 

My advice, if you do not have relatively-new toner catridges, buy any other non-HP printer and toss your current HP printer into the computer recycling.  If you do have new toner or (like me) have a whole set of new toner cartridges, buy a used printer of the same model so you can use your toner and THEN once you've exhausted your toner catridges, buy ANY brand of printer other than HP.

Unfortunately I know u are correct. I just keep hoping that someone can figure it out. It's a shame to toss a printer that prints well (if I didn't get the error). I have learned how to "reset" it so that printing can continue but it is a pain.

I already have a replacement non-HP printer but keep holding out hope! I know I know it's pointless!

Another update: unfortunately the customer elected to go with a new machine, so I couldn't get to the bottom of it. DC Controller was next on the list - but I can't say for sure if that would have fixed it.
