Well, after missing two calls from your support people due to work commitments I actually paid £18 for a support ticket to access them.
The lady spent well over half an hour on the machine having taken over my PC, most of it doing what I had already tried and failing as I did. Finally she told me it was fixed. (I thgink this was done by rolling back drivers to Windows 7!)
My printer is now being controlled by a n HP Officejet Pro 8710 PCL-3 (Network) driver which is the biggest load of rubbish that you lot have ever produced. Error messages range from 'printing on the wrong size paper' (I always use HP Everyday A4 paper in the machine). To offline messages. On top of that printing a two-sided booklet from MS Publisher is mow impossible and there are gaps during the print run as if the spooller is not working correctly.
This really is the last straw and I shall be going out, when free, to find a replacement. The sad part of this is that I paid for this non-existent help and got the impression that all she wanted to do was get the thing working somehow, as quickly as possible, so that she could move on to the next job.

Sadly, the good news did not lat long.
On trying to print the same booklet that we tested with last Friday i received an error message half way through the first copy and the screen on the printer said 'The printer only supports two-sided printing for certain paper sizes. To print both sides, remove the paper from the printer and load shorter paper or make sure that you paper is orientated correctly in the tray.'
Great, but I am using A4 HP Everyday paper.

@151mike, thank you for the response.
Make sure to select the right paper size on the printer and on the PC before printing.
Have you tried using a US letter size sheet to print on both sides and check if the error persists?
According to the printer specification, this printer supports automatic and manual duplexing.
To know how to print on both sides from your WIN PC, refer to this document.
Alternatively, you may also refer to page 35 of the user manual.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

i do not think you understand.
I ask the printer to print a four page booklet with printing on both sides. The first and/or sometimes the second page print correctly. Then either another page or half page appears with the error message.
This would tell me the fault is either the printer (which copies a two page document on both sides OK). or the software.
