HP is currently advising to perform a factory restore to resolve the issue.

Have you tried starting the printer with either the old cartridge or no cartridge?

I have the exact same issue today after changing the black toner on mine and having the firmware update automatically installed 3 days ago. So far no response from support. I'm not sure if a firmware downgrade is possible but it might fix the issue.

Can I get some confirmation on model numbers please. I am trying to escalate this issue but the first question they are going to ask is which printers.
