not verry good commination from HP for such a widespread issue

No way to have news from HP. I've set the printer back to Amazon for the refund and just bought an Epson.

Spoke to HP Australia by phone this morning [CONTENT REMOVED] - replacement printer being sent to me directly from HP. Will take up to 5 working days but thankfully we now have a solution (i.e. the firmware update cannot be fixed).

Unfortunately we were just out of warranty, but ended up going to Officeworks today and also purchased a Brother.  Still no response from HP!

Just spoke to HP in New Zealand and even though my printer is two months out of warranty they are sending a new printer out today. Apparently it’s the same printer but they have cancelled the firmware in it. Which is good as I have $200 worth of ink unused

In the UK here with a printer that's still in warranty. Had a call with HP to request a replacement. I'm waiting a callback however they mentioned they will have a resolution no later than Saturday whether that be an update or replacement. They also mentioned that regardless of warranty they will provide support so it's certainly worth giving them a call. In terms of a replacement there's a delay and it could take a minimum of 5-7 working days. They didn't elaborate on the replacement process yet but I assume they will send a new one and collect the faulty one?

Hi,
If HP decides to replace all users of this model of printer, I doubt that they have a sufficient quantity to quickly replace all the affected printers in the world!!
