HP ENVY 5052 won't print text

HP ENVY 5052 connected wirelessly to  a Dell all in one PC running Win 7 64 bit.

Printer will print  images from windows paint and Pick Pic,  but will not print text from windows apps including Notepad, or Open Office.

Printed fine 24 hours ago? 

Options tried so far:

rebooted the PC, power cycled the printer, Reset the printer by unplugging it and plugging it back in while on, downloading the HP  printer assistant and running it for diagnostics (nothing found).

I am unaware of any changes in the last 24 hours. Any ideas?

Are you able to print a copy with text in it?

Yes, I finally gave up and took a screen capture of my shopping list and printed it as an image

to restate my problem:

the printer will  print images, URL's, text in images, but not text?

I tried to print ascii files from Windows and printer log files directly from the printer and all that prints is an HP logo.

I reloaded the latest driver (April 2018) but have seen no change.

This has to be a simple printer setting but I can't find it! can you help?

What driver is listed in the Advanced option in Printer properties?

FOUND IT! and boy do I feel foolish.  The print failures all included BLACK text, the URL's and images all included color text. It appears that my new black ink cartridge failed, and it was "printing" black text all the time.
