I have an HP Pavilion Model 14-n055sa connected via wireless to an HP Envy 4527 printer. It will not print in colour. It is running the latest version of Windows 10 Home plus all the latest updates.
I have tried every solution posted in both the Microsoft forum and the HP forum. This includes:
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the the printer driver, both the HP and Windows versions. I followed the instructions to run printui.exe /s and removed the HP printer folder at the same time and removed all HP printer related software.
- Reinstalling Windows cleanly.
- Running Windows printer troubleshooter.
- Running HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Nothing works. When I print a test page from after reinstalling the drivers it comes out ok. However, when I print from an application it only prints in greyscale and the colour option is not shown in printer properties.
I had this problem on another PC and resolved it by following the various posts online. However, nothing has worked with this laptop.
I'm getting desperate! Can anyone help me please?

Hi @src2008
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
I understand you do not have an option to print in color from your PC. Let us try these steps:
- On the PC, go to Control panel > Devices and printers > Add a printer(at the top)
- Under 'Choose a device or printer', click on 'The printer I want isn't listed'.
- Select 'Add a printer using a TCP/IP address'
- Find the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless/ethernet icon on the printer screen
- Type in the 'IP address in Hostname or IP address' box, click next
- Proceed to the next steps by following the on-screen instructions.
- Try printing in color.
If the issue persists, Install the printer using Windows built-in driver
Refer to this document to know how. Try printing.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Malky71
In addition to foloowing the reinstallation instructions given, there is an additional step that I discovered:
Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
I moved this folder to my desktop and renamed it as OLD in case I needed to put it back. Once you have done this as well as removing the other stuff but before you install the printer, restart your PC then carry out the installation. That worked for me.
Good luck
Steve
