If anybody from HP is reading this I would appreciate a link to a software fix.  It is not cold temperature, or the AirPrint setting because I have tried all of that.  I have updated the software via the website not via apple as well.  I have tried to manually uninstall and reinstall.  I always know that the first printed page of the day will be double printed.

I have installed the firmware updater - but funny old thing there are no firmware updates available for this printer. My software on both iMac and printer are up to date.

HP know there is a problem but will not fix it.  What else do all the hundreds, possibly thousands of HP8710 owners have to do - resort to public shaming via Twitter?.  I have invested in this machine and the expensive ink cartridges - someone in HP needs to get off their butt.  Come on HP - man up and fix this issue.!!

To all those consumers out there click "like" and perhaps we can get enough replies / "likes" to push HP into actually doing something and I mean really doing something about this problem.

Try completely uninstalling the printer from the apple settings and the HP software.

Then install the HP software again and let it install the printer driver. When I did this it resolved the problem right away.

Thanks and I’ve tried your suggestion - still the same.

I wonder if you took your computer into Apple if they would be able to do some sort of deep clean to get rid of any remnants of the Apple driver. Or maybe Apple can fix their own driver so that it doesn't cause this issue? Apple is very good at addressing customer concerns.

I agree with you, James, as well as mblumber.  HP should fix this ASAP, and Apple should be looking at their driver as well.  This is some kind of anomaly that needs to be addressed at the most fundamental level.

I installed the HP drivers and the problem recurred.  Then, for no apparent reason, it stopped and I was relieved.  It happened again yesterday to my great consternation, and I am at a loss as to what needs to be done to make the printer work the way it should.

Thanks for posting here.

For me, the problem is that the first print of the day is blurred, then a few hours later after not printing the blurred / double vision printing occurs again.

Double check the driver version that is used by your printer from Apple -> About This Mac -> System Report...

See my earlier post of the driver that I am using which had totally removed the double blurred image first page of the day issue.

Tried that and no joy. It doesn’t just blur / double print from iMac it does same when printing using iPhone and iPad. Not just my own but other family members. But it’s the first print of the day or after a few hours of not printing.

It will double print etc using either HP Smart on all 3 devices OR printing directly without HP Smart.

Perhaps HP can speak to Apple? It’s their job isn’t it?  (O I forgot no one in HP is interested in fixing this, my bad!!).

Please continue to comment, maybe HP will find a fix in the end.

I have been having this issue ever since I purchased the 8715 Printer from Costco.  It doesn't occur all the time, but wastes considerable paper and ink, as well as a lot of time for the users.  Perhaps this is an HP initiative to sell more ink cartridges.  But since HP is silent on the issue and seemingly unwilling to support their customers, I will return the printer to Costco for a refund, along with the ink cartridges.  I certainly hope that Costco and other stores are returning these printers and cartridges to HP for a full refund.  HP needs to get the customer dissatisfaction message delivered in their bottom line.  Perhaps this will wake them up to start supporting their customers before they go out of business.

Hi @Stevezz

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

Have a great day!
